Siguen Pesados después de 15 años

03-07-08 Hasta ahora, 2008 ha sido un año lleno de acontecimientos para el grupo Pesado, que ha incluido la celebración del decimoquinto aniversario del grupo, el lanzamiento del vigésimo disco “Pesado Corridos: Defendiendo el honor” y un accidente de coche mortal.
Hace dos semanas los miembros del equipo técnico de Pesado estaban viajando por la noche en una carretera de Oaxaca, México, cuando el operador del camión donde viajaban no pudo evitar chocar con un camión estropeada. Uno de los pasajeros murió y cinco fueron heridos. Durante una entrevista telefónica con el percusionista de Pesado, Julio César Taméz, dijo que fue una pérdida difícil para todos.
Pero como va el dicho, el show tiene que continuar y Mario Alberto Zapata, José Mario Elizondo, Luis Mario Garza, Juan Antonio Pequeño y Taméz siguieron con el lanzamiento de “Defendiendo el honor”, el segundo disco del grupo que es totalmente de corridos.
Este año es el decimoquinto año desde que Zapata y Elizondo fundaron el grupo Pesado en su natal Monterrey, México, y para hacer la ocasión mucho más especial, Pesado logró su segunda nominación consecutiva al Grammy americano en la categoría de Mejor disco norteño. Taméz dijo que la nominación es importante para la carera de Pesado y que el grupo seguirá creando música que a la gente le guste.
¿Cómo se siente al saber que Pesado ha realizado 20 discos?
Imagínate ya 15 años y 20 discos son bastante. Gracias a dios que los fans han invertido en nuestros discos y que les ha gustado nuestra música. Siempre hacemos la música con todo el corazón y este disco no es la excepción.
¿Cómo marcará al grupo su decimoquinto aniversario?
Queremos hacer algo porque son nuestros primeros 15 años y queremos hacer un disco con invitados muy especiales. No sabemos si va a ser un disco o una presentación en vivo y sacar un DVD. Jenni Rivera y Paquita la del Barrio están confirmadas y quisiéramos invitar a Juan Gabriel o a Marco Antonio Solís.
¿Después de 15 años, qué hace Pesado para continuar con un sonido fresco?
Nosotros seguimos innovando. Claro que la música norteña la tenemos bien puesta en la sangre, pero tenemos que continuar a innovar y continuar creando nuevas cosas mientras no mantenemos fieles a la música norteña.

03-06-08 So far 2008 has been an eventful year for Pesado, which has included the group’s 15th anniversary celebration, the release of its 20th album “Pesado Corridos: Defendiendo el honor” and a deadly accident. Two weeks ago members of Pesado’s technical team were traveling along a highway in Oaxaca, Mexico, at night when the driver of the bus the team was traveling on could not avoid hitting a truck that was stalled in the middle of the highway. One of the passengers died and five others were injured. During a phone interview with Pesado’s percussionist Julio Cesar Tamez, he said that it was a difficult loss for everyone.
But as the saying goes, the show must go on and Mario Alberto Zapata, Jose Mario Elizondo, Luis Mario Garza, Juan Antonio Pequeño and Tamez continued on with the release of “Defendiendo el honor,” the group’s second album comprised of all corrido tracks.
This year marks the 15th year since Zapata and Elizondo founded the group in their native Monterrey, Mexico and to make the celebration even sweeter, Pesado received its second consecutive Grammy nomination in the Best Norteño Album category. Tamez said that the nomination is important in Pesado’s career and that the group will continue to create music that people like.
What does it feel like for Pesado to have released 20 albums?
Can you imagine 15 years and 20 albums? It’s wonderful. Thankfully the fans have invested in the albums and that they have liked our music. We always create music with all our heart and this album is no exception.
How will the group mark its 15th anniversary?
We want to do something because it’s our first 15 years and we want to release an album and invite special guests to participate, although we don’t know if it would be a live concert with a DVD. We have had Jenni Rivera and Paquita la del Barrio confirm and we would like to invite Juan Gabriel or Marco Antonio Solis.
After 15 years, what does Pesado do to keep it sounding fresh?
We continue to innovate. Of course Norteño music is engrained in our blood, but we have to continue to innovate and continue to create new things while staying true to Norteño music. |
