La protagonista de ‘Desperate Housewives’ regresa de nuevo al cine en una comedia romántica

02/04/2008- Con todos los ingredientes para convertirse en una película perfecta para una pareja de enamorados el próximo fin de semana, llega la despampanante Eva Longoria Parker en “Over Her Dead Body”, cinta que narra la historia de Henry (Paul Rudd), un hombre que se siente devastado cuando su novia y prometida Kate (Longoria Parker), muere accidentalmente el día de la boda.
A regañadientes y por pedido de su hermana Chloe, acepta ir donde una vidente llamada Ashley. A pesar de su escepticismo con respecto a las capacidades paranormales, Henry se va enamorando de Ashley, y viceversa, pero… hay un gran problema. Ashley está siendo acechada por el fantasma de Kate, quien aún después de haber partido de este mundo siente unos celos descomunales y no quiere que su novio consiga el amor que sintió por ella.
Aunque la trama pudiera dar para convertirse en una historia de suspense paranormal, el trato hecho por los productores fue el de darle un ángulo de romance y comedia, para hacerla inofensiva y a la vez atractiva para la audiencia general.
Los realizadores vieron que la protagonista perfecta para el personaje central era Longoria Parker. Fuera de su atractivo físico, tiene una personalidad arrolladora que encanta dentro y fuera de las cámaras. No obstante, para Longoria Parker el desafío fue trabajar alrededor de su agenda de rodaje para “Desperate Housewives”. Para hacer esta película, trabajó muchos fines de semana, creando de este modo una semana laboral de siete días entre sus rodajes televisivos y cinematográficos.
“Oh, fue fácil”, ha dicho Longoria Parker sobre este rol. “Me encanta trabajar, y cuando estás haciendo dos proyectos separados simultáneamente, junto con las sesiones fotográficas y tu propia vida personal, mantener la cordura no es difícil si te encanta lo que haces. Sé cuán afortunada soy”.
Sobre su papel de Kate, Longoria Parker acepta que pasó un buen rato durante el rodaje interpretando a una fantasma celosa.
“El papel de Kate fue divertido. No es muy habitual que leas un guión donde el personaje tiene tantos colores y tantas cosas por hacer. Siempre es divertido encarnar a la antagonista que genera todo el drama y el conflicto”, señala la actriz.

The star of “Desperate Housewives” returns to the big screen in a romantic comedy

02/04/2008- With all the ingredients to become the perfect film for couples in love for next weekend, comes the stunning Eva Longoria Parker in “Over Her Dead Body.” The film tells the story of Henry (Paul Rudd), who is devastated over the accidental death of his fiancé Kate (Longoria Parker) on their wedding day.
Reluctantly and after much pestering by his sister Chloe, he agrees to see a psychic named Ashley. Aside from his skepticism when its comes to the paranormal, Henry starts to fall in love with Ashley, and vice versa, but there is one big problem. Ashley is being threatened by Kate’s spirit, who becomes very jealous and doesn’t want her fiancé to feel for anyone else the way he felt about her.
Although the plot could have made this film become more of a paranormal suspense thriller, the deal made between the producers was to develop the film from a romance and comedy angle, to make a harmless film and overall attractive to the general audience.
The idea for the script occurred to the films director and writer, Jeff Lowell, while working on a project with a friend about paranormal phenomena’s. Lowell, an absolute skeptic, and his friend, a firm believer of the paranormal, the two disagreed on their ideas and beliefs. Lowell began to think about what it would take for a cynic to fall in love with someone who goes against his own rational beliefs.
The film’s producers saw that the perfect actress for the leading role was Longoria Parker. Aside from her attractive physique, she has a captivating personality on and off camera. Nevertheless, for Longoria Parker the challenge was working around the shooting schedule for “Desperate Housewives.” To make this film, she had to work on many of her weekends, which created a seven day work week split between her television and film shooting schedules.
“Oh it was easy,” said Longoria Parker about her role. “I love to work, and when you are working on two separate projects simultaneously, along with photo shoots and your personal life, maintaining some sort of sanity isn’t hard if you love what you are doing. I know how lucky I am.”
Regarding her role as Kate, Longoria Parker said she had a great time playing a jealous ghost.
“The part of Kate was fun. It isn’t everyday that you read a script where the lead character has so many colors and so many things to do. It is always entertaining to personify the antagonist who generates all the drama and conflict,” said the actress.
